If you’ve spent any time in the Smoky Mountains, you already know the weather can be a little… unpredictable. Around here we like to say that a 90% chance of rain might mean a quick 15-minute rain shower, and a partly cloudy forecast often turns into a mostly sunny day! LOL. That’s just part of the charm of the mountains.
But we also know that when you’re planning a day at our waterpark, you want to feel confident that the weather won’t ruin your plans. Families travel from near and far, take time off work, and build their vacation schedules around a fun day in the park. The last thing anyone wants is to spend the morning checking the forecast and wondering if they should risk it.
That’s why we’ve decided to make things easier for our guests.
For the 2026 Summer Season, we’re updating our inclement weather policy to give you more peace of mind when planning your visit. Our goal is simple: we want you to enjoy your day at Soaky Mountain Waterpark without worrying about what the weather might do.
Here’s how it will work.
If full ride operations are suspended due to inclement weather, guests may be eligible for a complimentary return ticket, also known as a Rain Ticket. This ticket will allow you to come back and enjoy the park on another day during the current season.
To qualify, you simply need to:
- Have proof of your ticket purchase, and
- Leave the park for the day while operations are suspended.
That’s it. No complicated process and no guesswork.
We understand that weather forecasts can sometimes look worse than the actual conditions turn out to be. There is no doubt that in the Smokies storms pass quickly and our goal is to try and stay open when it is safe to do so. To that point, guests are always welcome to wait out any storms.
However, now with this new policy, you don’t have to cancel your plans or spend the day worrying about the radar. If the weather clears up—as it often does in the Smokies—you can enjoy the park. And if it doesn’t, you’ll still have the opportunity to come back and experience all the thrills, slides, and waves another day.
So the next time your weather app says the forecast might be a washout, don’t stress. You can still plan a day full of fun at Soaky Mountain Waterpark, knowing that we’ve got you covered.
We can’t control the mountain weather—but we can make sure your summer fun stays on track.
