Do you have a toddler who you would like to bring to our waterpark but are uncertain about how they will react? Believe it or not, a little prep can go a long way in making your toddler’s first visit to our waterpark safe, smooth, and full of happy family memories.

Here are some tips to help you introduce your toddler to our waterpark with confidence:

Visit Early in the Season or Toward the End of the Season
Avoid the crowds and pick a time of year that is less busy.  We recommend coming on a weekday in May, early June, August or September. Please note, make sure to check our waterpark hours before you come because they do vary between weekday and weekends.

Arrive Early (Like Right When We Open)
We know that toddlers tend to be at their best in the morning and that’s why we open our waterparks at 10 am. If you come at opening time you will be treated to smaller crowds, a quieter setting and your toddler will be able to explore more comfortably.

Pack Smart
Our waterpark is on a mountain, so plan accordingly! We recommend you bring a stroller to help them to/from the parking lot so your little one can save their energy for fun times in our waterparks. Also don’t forget these essentials:

  • Swim diapers – they are a must! We require them for toddlers who are not potty trained– bring many and don’t forget the wipes
  • UV-protective swimsuit (and hat)
  • Aqua shoes
  • A Coast Guard approved life jackets (Safety First!)
  • Sunscreen (Don’t forget to reapply it often!)
  • A change of clothes so you can change into dry clothing for the ride home
  • A favorite comfort item (just in case things get overwhelming)
  • A sealed bottle of water or an empty water bottle that can be filled once you are in the park
  • Children under three can bring a sandwich size baggie of snacks and we allow baby food as long as it isn’t in a glass container.
  • Please note: We have a variety of food stands throughout the waterpark where you can purchase food and beverages for your family. Sorry, we do not allow carry-ins for anyone over age 3 into our waterparks.

Start Small and Let Them Observe
Our waterpark has its own area for littles where you can ease your toddler into the waterpark experience. Let them watch from the edge of The Hive or Boomer’s Bay, our zero-depth play areas, at their own pace. Seeing other kids having fun can be a great motivator!

Be Their Guide and Lifeguard
Your toddler is always watching you, so make sure you’re relaxed and positively reinforcing them. Stay close to them at all times—even in shallow water—and encourage but don’t push them to try new things. Let them set the pace.

Watch for Sensory Overload
If your toddler becomes overwhelmed by the noise, crowds, or excitement, take a break. Consider renting a cabana for a quiet, shaded retreat right in our waterpark. We also have a air conditioned nursing room that can be used sure for nursing, but also to change diapers, or even to just bring the stimulation down.

Hydrate, Hydrate, Hydrate
Playing in the sun and water is thirsty work! Make sure the whole family drinks plenty of water. Refuel with snacks and beverages available at our on-site food trucks, snack bars and quick service restaurants.

Set Realistic Expectations
It’s perfectly normal if your toddler only lasts an hour or two in the water. Take poolside breaks and consider getting a season pass where you can come for as couple of hours and not feel bad about leaving.

Celebrate this Milestone Together
Did your toddler enjoy splashing around the hive? Did they maybe try a Lil Rattler’s mini slide or go in the wave pool with you? Celebrate it! These small moments are big accomplishments in your toddler’s world and help build excitement for your next visit.

Final Thoughts:
Introducing your toddler to our waterpark resort doesn’t have to be stressful. With a little planning and patience, it can be the start of a cherished family tradition. Focus on fun, follow your child’s lead, and embrace the splashy chaos of it all—you’re making memories that will last a lifetime.
